The Bull Bar was established in the Spring of 2003, by Garat Oates
and Carman Stewart, two best friends who were new to South Florida.
It soon became the favorite neighborhood bar amongst the locals
of Delray Beach. Gradually, word spread to West Palm Beach and Fort
Lauderdale about this warm and cozy bar, which fast became known
for its live acoustic music and friendly atmosphere. Since there
is no food served at the Bull Bar, smoking is permitted as well,
which sets it apart from the other bars close by. Around the first
Christmas at the Bull Bar, the owners awarded their customers brass
plaques with their names on the barstools, as a sign of appreciation
for making the endeavor a success.
The
clientele at the Bull bar ranges from local stockbrokers and entrepreneurs,
to “in the biz” people (who receive 20% off), to local
artists and musicians. Generally the age range is thirty-something
young professionals.
In
the spring of 2004, after many life changes, Garat Oates decided
to sell his share of the bar to a local woman who was
ready for a career change. A The bar has not changed much, just more live bands, and corporate plaques above the
bar, keeping it still the best little bar in Delray Beach to relax,
stay awhile, and meet the locals.
